Azelis appointed as exclusive distributor in Greece for National Starch Food Innovation

27 June 2011

Azelis is pleased to announce that from July 1st, it will be the exclusive distributor for leading global functional ingredient supplier National Starch Food Innovation in Greece

Azelis will supply the company’s full range of nature-based, speciality starches to the Greek food and beverage industry.  With a partnership going back over 25 years, Azelis represents National Starch Food Innovation in France, Poland and the Ukriane and was more recently appointed in Russia in 2008.

“We are pleased to be able to extend our relationship with National Starch Food Innovation.  This new appointment will greatly enhance our product offering in Greece and we look forward to being able to offer highly functional, innovative starches to our customers,” adds Nicole Joubay, Regional Business Manager Central Eastern Europe & Mediterranean East, Azelis.

National Starch Food Innovation’s speciality starches add many marketable properties to food applications including improved eating quality, visual appeal, nutritional value and cost optimisation.  New starches are continuously being developed by the company in anticipation of rising consumer demands for clean label, organic, lower cost, high quality foods. Importantly, the company’s nutritional ingredient solutions are supported by a wealth of published clinical studies and its Hi-maize® resistant starch has recently received a positive opinion from EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) for its proven benefits in relation to healthy blood sugar levels.

By combining reformulation expertise with targeted ingredient tools, National Starch Food Innovation helps product developers overcome the cost versus quality conundrum. Its starch-based alternatives replace conventional but costly ingredients that display emulsifying properties such as egg, tomato paste, milk powder, oils and fats, gums and hydrocolloids. By replicating essential texture, performance and shelf life, multifunctional starches significantly streamline production costs without sacrificing consumer appeal.

“Azelis is already a proven partner for National Starch Food Innovation and we are confident that they will help us develop the market in Greece, in particular for the bakery, dairy and savoury sectors”, acknowledged Gordon Wyllie, Distributor Manager EMEA, National Starch Food Innovation.
