All eyes on beauty

Claire has over 25 years' experience of formulating within the Personal Care industry. In addition to a HND in Chemistry and Cosmetic Science, Claire has continued in the education industry and is a lecturer in cosmetic formulation at the University of the Arts in London. Active within the industry, Claire is also a member of the education committee of the UK Society of Cosmetic Scientists.

Claire developed a new customisable, biodegrable face mask made from sustainable cold process pectin that was claims tested and shown to increase skin hydration by 58% after 10 minutes. In combination with a range of actives, the mask can target a wide range of skin imperfections, including anti-ageing, purifying and calming to reduce redness of the skin.

Holger holds a diploma and doctorate in Applied Chemistry and has 24 years’ experience in the industry, including 6 years as an R&D consultant. Holger continues to share his vast experience as a Lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. In addition, Holger has participated in 14 publications and 8 patents.

Holger is continually involved in customer solutions and formulation support, including reformulation of an anti-aging line and aiding with an instability issue on a market-leading product formulation. In addition one of Holger’s formulations won first place at the Beiersdorf award at the innovation pitch during the in-cosmetics exhibition.

Michela has over 15 years’ experience in the Personal Care industry and holds a degree in chemistry, as well as being a member of SICC. Michela has a great deal of experience having previously formulated cosmetics at a contract manufacturers.

Michela was involved in developing ‘sorbet cream’ an innovative sorbet-like cream that leaves your skin feeling velvety, obtained through cold process. This cream was showcased at Making Cosmetics exhibition and won best innovation cream of 2016 Cosmoprof edition. This formulation later was presented to a large local brand in Italy who put the cream into manufacture and can now be purchased in shops around Italy.

Özge has over 8 years’ experience within the Personal Care industry. In addition to a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and MBA degree, Özge regularly attends cosmetic congresses to continue her learning. Özge will be presenting ‘Cosmetics Trends in the Future’ at a large international cosmetic congress later this year.

Özge is regularly involved with laboratory training that includes formulation work on new ranges, as well as the latest offerings from suppliers for example, silicones, starches and emulsifiers. Working alongside the global personal care laboratories, Özge is regularly involved with customer and internal development and training projects.

Barbara Berger is the Laboratory Technician for Personal Care in Germany. Barbara has over 20 years’ experience in the Cosmetic Industry, including 8 years as Laboratory Assistant in a cosmetic consultant company. Barbara’s areas of expertise include formulation manufacturing and cosmetic product analysis via microscope and rheometer.

Barbara is involved with a range of customer requirements, for example recent work includes reformulation of an anti-ageing line, instability issues with a formulation and anti-pollution formulations.

Sushant Suresh Masurkar is the Technical Manager for Personal Care in India. Sushant holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy and a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Research & Patents. With over 13 years’ experience in the industry, his area of expertise is formulation development, in particular sunscreen products and soaps. In addition, Sushant is a member of Indian Society of Cosmetic Chemists (ISCC).

Sushant has been involved in a number of projects including silicone free sunscreen spray, a face wash that takes a jelly form and a new formulation that included an ingredient that had not previously been used in a bar of soap. Sushant uses his wealth of experience to innovate new formulations with amazing end results.

Tracy Wei is the Laboratory Manager for Personal Care in China. Tracy has over 13 years’ experience within the industry. Tracy holds a BSc in Pharmacy and has over 8 years’ experience as an R&D engineer in an end-product company.  In addition, Tracy is a regular presenter at technical seminars and supports laboratory development work in the Asia Pacific region.

Tracy was involved with developing the three award winning formulations that won the Personal Care Cosmetics Fountain Innovation Award at PCHi exhibition in Guangzhou, three years in a row.

Łukasz holds an MSc in Cosmetic Chemistry and has over 9 years’ experience within the industry. Łukasz is regularly involved in local events held by the Azelis Poland team, often giving presentations at these seminars. Łukasz’s area of expertise is in the evaluation of fragrances.

Łukasz has close cooperation with the other Personal Care and Homecare & Industrial Cleaning laboratories, offering fragrance evaluation support globally across the Azelis Group. Working on customer projects, as well as laboratory workshops for customers and internal training.

Janice Landers is the Laboratory Technician for Personal Care and Homecare & Industrial Cleaning, in the UK. Janice holds SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science and has worked in the industry for over 20 years. Janice has worked at Azelis for 17 years and has a diverse range of experience in all areas of formulating.

Janice was recently involved with a customer decorative formulation project recently. Having to test various different technologies of film formers in order to help the customer to determine the best way to improve their current formulation in regards to wear and longevity.

Adriana Tarczyńska is the Fragrance Evaluation Manager for Personal Care and Homecare & Industrial Cleaning in Poland. Adriana has over 12 years’ experience within the industry and holds a MSc of Cosmetology, Faculty of Pharmacy and PhD Production & Assessment of Quality of Cosmetic Products. Adriana’s area of expertise includes cosmetic production, R&D, beauty & spa and fragrance evaluation. In addition, Adriana regularly lectures at seminars organised by the Azelis Poland team.

Adriana was recently involved with prototype formulations and sample preparations for a couple of local events, as well as a large group exhibition attended by Azelis representatives globally.

Bala Malayattil is Laboratory Supervisor for the Homecare & IC lab in New Zealand. He holds a BSC (Hons) DipBusMgt and has over 33 years’ experience in the industry.

Bala’s area of expertise is formulation in the Homecare & Industrial Industries.

Bala has recently spent time onsite at a key Homecare customer for Azelis New Zealand to refine their manufacturing processes. In-lab formulation modifications resulted in optimisedprocesses for the customer.

Hieu Nguyen Thi Hong is Technical Sales Executive and Lab Technician for Personal Care and Homecare & Industrial Chemicals in Vietnam. Hieu has 5 years’ experience in the industry. Her area of expertise is fragrances, surfactants, conditioners and active ingredients. Hieu regularly participates in training courses from fragrance companies such as Luzi, FPI, Scent & Plent.

By researching market products and raw materials, Hieu develops many formulations in the Azelis lab to assist customers. One of the recent applications appreciated by customers is agentle, shower gel for children free of SLS/SLES (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate/Sodium Laureth Sulfate).  

Annie Diep Ngo is a Senior R&D Chemist in our Personal Care Application Lab in Sante Fe Springs, California. Annie graduated with a B.S degree, has over 4.5 years of experience behind a cosmetic formulation bench and is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. Annie is an expert in the formulation of prototypes that are used in the hair, skin or sun products.

Annie helped develop the most effective, 100% natural, non-GMO, sulfate-free formulation while being the highest quality prototype for the skin market.

Ali Witwit is the VP of Technology and Innovation for the Personal Care application lab in Sante Fe Springs, California. Ali has over 17 years of experience of formulating within the Personal Care industry. He leads the technical sales team at Sante Fe Springs and is responsible for their education and knowledge of the suppliers’ product lines. Ali also challenges the boundaries of innovation with his novel ideas and formulating skills.

Ali has an educational channel on YouTube with numerous whiteboard “Intelligent Ingredients®” videos demonstrating the latest launches of suppliers ingredients.

Gina Cosby is the Laboratory and Technical Project Manager in the Azelis Midwest Care Lab in the US. Gina received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Purdue University and has over 14 years’ experience in the Personal Care and Home Care industries. As an active member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC), Gina has served as Chair, Chair-Elect, Secretary and Outreach Chair.

Iana Do-Yeon Kim is the Laboratory Manager for Personal Care in South Korea. Iana holds a degree in Nano Advanced Materials (Chemicals) from the University of Konyang and has worked in the industry for 11 years. Her area of expertise lies in silicone formulation of skin care, make-up and hair care products.
Iana regularly holds technical customer seminars focusing on silicones and provides training for Azelis employees.

Iana has developed many formulations using silicone and natural wax, including customers’ finished products. A recent project involved customisation of a silicone resin. She developed the optimised ratio of each ingredient to meet the customer’s need on volatility and sensory. The product is now in pilot test phase, awaiting customer audit.

Barney Sung-Jun Cho is assistant manager and laboratory technician for Personal Care in South Korea.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kyonggiand has four years’ experience – one year in the pharmaceuticals field and three years in cosmetics.

Barney’s expertise includes silicone formulation, skin care and masks.

Ian Foster is Key Account Manager and Technical Applications Manager for Homecare & IC in New Zealand. Ian has over 40 years’ experience in the industry – 6 years in development of aerosol products, 6 years of product development in I&I, Homecare and Personal Care and 30 years’ technical sales with associated product development. He is also a member of the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Chemists.

Ian has developed numerous homecare products for customers, working closely with Azelis New Zealand’s production capabilities. Many of these products can now be found in the Australian, UK and US retail markets, in addition to New Zealand.
