REACH

The Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) is a regulation of the European Union (EU), adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals. In principle, REACH applies to all chemical substances; not only those used in industrial processes but also in our day-to-day lives. For example in cleaning products, paints as well as in articles such as clothes, furniture and electrical appliances. Therefore, the regulation has an impact on almost all companies across the EU and those non EU companies supplying into the EU.

The REACH regulations entered into force on 1 June 2007, following a structured 3 phase registration programme. The first two registrations deadlines passed in 2010 and 2013. The final registration phase has to be completed by 1 June 2018. From this date any substance subject to REACH, manufactured or imported into the EU in volumes greater than 1 metric tonne per year, cannot be sold without a REACH registration.

Azelis highly values compliance and is committed to serving our customers. Therefore, Azelis has set up a multi-disciplinary REACH 2018 project team to ensure that we can identify any chemicals in our supply chains that are at risk of not being registered by 31 May 2018 deadline. Azelis will work through the products in phases, starting with the most at risk products, with the intention of having a full overview of the REACH compliance of all our products, which is due to be completed in the first half of 2017. In the second half of 2017, Azelis will start the process of REACH-registering any identified substances, which is not covered by a registration in the supply chain.

In summary, ensuring REACH compliance for all the products we supply in Europe is vitally important to Azelis and to our customers alike. We are committed to playing a constructive role in the implementation of REACH in the EU. WE are continuously evaluating our supplied substances to ensure they are pre-registered and are/will be registered in the supply chain before 31 May 2018 to ensure your continued supply.
