Azelis, Europe’s leading distributor of specialty chemicals and polymers today announced its second major international seminar to help non-EU companies cope with the new REACH regulations.

Following the success of its first seminar held in Shanghai, China, last month, Azelis, in co-operation with Chemexcil, will be staging a second next month in Mumbai, India.

Azelis imports around US $22 million worth of products from India and is currently in negotiation with a number of potential Indian partners with a view to significantly growing business with India.

It is with this in mind that Azelis has organised the seminar aimed at Indian chemical manufacturers and formulators on May 29.

Azelis COO Peter Fields said: “The REACH (Regulation Evaluation Authorisation of Chemicals) legislation recently adopted by the EU Parliament and Commission is one of the strongest regulatory changes ever in the chemical industry and a full understanding of its requirements is vital to those wishing to trade into Europe.

“The previous seminar at the Shanghai International Convention Centre was attended by over 70 delegates from more than 50 Chinese companies and proved to be very much appreciated by all those who attended despite the fact that it is an extremely complex issue, particularly for a non-European audience.”

At that seminar Dr Fields delivered a presentation on Azelis’ commitment to developing business with China and on the company’s focus on Product Stewardship as an introduction to “REACH in detail”

Azelis Head of SHEQ, Stefano Colicchia gave a general overview on REACH and the related legislation and requirements before explaining the technical details of the registration process and the subsequent estimated costs of registration.

The Mumbai seminar will be in a similar format with a detailed question and answer session at the end to ensure all the delegates have a working knowledge of how REACH will affect them and how best to prepare themselves.

As part of Azelis’ continuing focus on REACH and the company’s wish to support Principals wanting to do business in Europe, there are plans to hold a third event, this time in Korea, later this year.
