ORGASOL® and RILSAN® D additives are ultra-fine polyamide powders with unique morphology giving benefits across a wide variety of Coating and Ink applications. The lubricity and durability of polyamide enhances the mechanical performance of the film while maintaining properties such as flexibility and in-can stability. The narrow particle size distribution gives creative leverage to the formulator for matting effects and soft to textured feel.

Add+ Mechanical Properties

The Orgasol® and Rilsan® D polyamide micro-particles add hardness and decrease the coefficient of friction in the final film. This results in superior abrasion and mar resistance for long-lasting performance coatings, particularly where high traffic and repeated wear are concerned. The morphology of the polyamide powders additionally improves stain and chemical resistance.

Orgasol Powders lose less relative weight per 500/1000 Taber cycles vs PUD varnish, treated silica, and polymethyl urea.
 
Orgasol performs better than untreated silica in Levelling, Soda resistance, and TABER Scratch, and performs equally in Sun cream resistance and MEK resistance (rub out)

Add+ Matting and Surface Enhancements

The range of Orgasol® and Rilsan® D powders allow the formulator to change the look and feel of the final coating surface. These powders are easily dispersed and will not impact viscosity in comparison to commonly used matting and surface modifying agents. Texturizing or soft feel-effects can be achieved by selecting the right product for the coating’s dry-film thinkness.

 

Orgasol provides excellent matting efficiency compared to polymethyl urea and treated silica.  Orgasol can also adjust to many surface finishes, from low to highly textured, by increasing the concentration of Orgasol powder in your formulation.

 

Orgasol powders do not affect viscosity as compared to treated silicas.

Product Selection

The correct grade of Orgasol® or Rilsan®D polyamide powder is determined by the desired texture effect and dry film thickness of the coating.
