Azelis Americas CASE Appointed U.S. Distributor of Polyurethane Additives by Momentive

10 March 2020

Westport, CT – Azelis Americas CASE, LLC has been appointed by Momentive Performance Materials USA LLC as distributor of its polyurethane additives products for the entire U.S. Based in Waterford, N.Y., Momentive is one of the world's largest producers of silicones and silicone derivatives, including polyurethane additives. The appointment is effective May 10, 2020.

Highlights & rationale

  • The agreement expands Azelis’ commercial relationship with Momentive. Azelis Americas CASE is also a distributor for the Momentive silanes business.
  • The relationship provides an excellent platform for organic sales growth in a critical segment of the market served by Azelis Americas CASE.
  • Momentive’s polyurethane additive product line is a strategic fit to the Azelis Americas CASE offerings for urethane customers in the flexible slabstock, rigids, molded, and CASE markets.
  • This agreement underlines Azelis’ commitment to organically grow with its key partners.

Thuan Nguyen, Momentive Global Segment Leader – PU Rigids, Molded & Specialties, commented:

“Azelis Americas CASE is a premier CASE distributor in the U.S. We look forward to growing the Momentive polyurethanes additives business across the U.S. by leveraging their technical sales force, market intelligence and application labs”

Frank Bergonzi, CEO and President, Azelis Americas, said:

“Adding the Momentive polyurethane additives product line to our CASE portfolio is an ideal fit. Momentive’s products offer our customers the best in class quality and performance. Our sales, technical and customer support teams are eager to expand the use of these technologies with our customer base.”

For more than 50 years, Momentive’s Niax* brand has enabled the efficient and consistent production of a wide array of foam products. Niax additives for flexible polyurethane foam feature open and fine cells, highly effective fire retardancy, improved density distribution and low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. Niax additives for rigid polyurethane foam can provide improved blowing agent compatibility, solubility and miscibility, as well as enhanced thermal conductivity, dimensional stability, flow leveling and adhesion promotion.

Momentive’s Geolite* modifiers help flexible slabstock foam producers broaden their offering of foam grades, including softer foams. This product family typically permits more water use in processing slabstock foam, allowing producers to economically eliminate or substantially reduce the use of auxiliary blowing agents. Foam producers can also achieve softer foams when using Geolite softening and stabilizing additives with CO2 processing equipment.

Momentive also offers diverse catalyst solutions for specialty applications. These catalysts can offer varying degrees of delayed action and hydrolytic stability to meet our customers’ processing needs.
